If there is anything to be heard from Fir Park this week it is likely the sound of panic.
A quick look at the table reveals that what seemed like two must-win home games were actually nothing of the kind; they were must-not-lose. Yet that is exactly what we did.
The fact we contrived to throw away points to teams who would have been even happier than us with draws simply makes our failure even more galling.
We now enter what is, surely, a final in terms of our hopes of avoiding the bottom two. Win in Hamilton on Saturday and survival is back on. Few would give us a chance of staying up if we draw with our direct rivals while a loss has us worrying more about direct demotion.
From the players used against Ross County, there are virtually none who truly deserve to retain their places for such a decisive fixture. The usual suspects, no doubt will be there though - after all, we are in this position precisely because there is no one else.
Tickets for the match at New Douglas Park are on sale at Fir Park. Accies have advised that there will be no cash gate available on Saturday. We packed the away stand on our last visit and celebrated the late Moult goal that earned a point. We’ll need to do better this thime.
