It's been twenty months since John Boyle announced his intention to step down and pass control of the club to wider ownership. The Society emerged as the preferred model and the initial membership target was reached. The football club board has played its part in establishing the way to community ownership and now is the time for supporters to exercise some control.
The Society has to have a group of individuals who are committed to the idea of a supporter owned club and who can keep the momentum going. A range of skills and expertise will be needed but the elected board members (4 initially) will be able to co-opt individuals to assist in the delivery of the Society's aims.

While some professional talents will be needed it is also vital that the board has representation from the ordinary fan base. The process of self nomination (by declaring interest to Alison Wallace 01698 338006) is one that will not appeal to those who have a modest view of their capabilities. Friends, colleagues and fellow fans have a duty to encourage such folk to put their names forward. It would be a healthy position if there were more than four nominations as some discussion and debate at the General Meeting (on Wednesday 24 October in the Dalziel Studios) would illuminate the process.
Time is short but NOW is the time for all Society members to ask themselves if they could make the contribution of time and effort to assist in the running of the new organisation. It is also the time to identify and encourage fellow members to step up.
