Motherwell fans made up the vast majority of the 1,620 crowd at Broadwood but for most of the game it was cheers from home crowd that filled the stadium.
It was a showing reminiscent of the stuttering display at Stranraer a week ago. Faced with a stubborn defence we struggled to find a way through. Little success followed long balls to Main or Sammon and any crosses were easily mopped up.
Gie's a goal!
When Goodwillie turned Hartley inside out after half an hour to give Clyde the lead many of us feared the worst. Gorrin replaced Campbell at the break and with half an hour remaining Tait was pulled to set us up with a three striker attack as Johnson joined the fray.
When Goodwillie set himself up for a free shot from the left side of our area it seemed that our progress in the competition was about to end but to our relief the ball curled beyond Carson's left hand post and we were still in the game.
As thoughts strayed to the embarrassment of Albion Rovers our hopes were raised when Gorrin's corner was flicked on by Rose and into the net off Main. It was a scrappy goal but given that we had been camped in the Clyde half for most of the game we might have been due a break.
Two minutes later we scored a proper goal. Frear's delivery found Johnson and a powerful shot smashed into the net. Suddenly we had turned the game and were heading for the knockout stage.
There was one further scare before the end but Ferns made the wrong choice when a shot was the better option. The bonus goal in added time was a well directed header from Sammon, again from Frear's cross.
But the single point earned in Stranraer has cost us dear. We will not be seeded in the knockout round.
