CIS Cup 2nd Round

The draw has been made this afternoon and we open with Hamilton at home. This is our first home draw in the competition since 1998 - when Ayr United defeated us 2-0.

This will be our first competitive match against the Accies for a few years. The sides last met in the Scottish Cup of 1997 when we won 2-0 at Broadwood after a 1-1 draw at Fir Park. Our record in the League Cup - last season apart obviously! - has been pretty poor in the last decade or so and Hamilton will fancy their chances of upsetting their big brother neighbours. Hamilton had a credible finish in the First Division last year and they have strengthened over the summer. Given our tendency to struggle against smaller sides, this fixture could be tricky.
Local derbies are always interesting for the fans and this one should be no different. The game will be played on Tuesday 23rd August and presumably season tickets will be valid.
