Changes on the Way

It will come as no surprise to anyone when Pearo leaves Fir Park and heads for Parkhead. The strong chatter in the stands on Saturday was that he will be on his way at the start of the week. Although negotiations took place around a cash plus player(s) deal, it seems that Celtic were unwilling to let any bright young thing leave the east end and that the goods on offer did not tempt our Terry. As a result the probability is that a cash only deal has been agreed and the Fir Park coffers could be enlarged by up to £350 000.

There will be some who are sad at the prospect of Pearson’s departure. But few expect him to prosper in the hoops. Let’s see what a few years
anonymity in the reserves does for his
Scotland prospects. Many ‘Well fans keep an eye on the development of Faddy at Everton, not many will be wishing that Pearo’s new team prosper.

What of new blood?

Of the many names mentioned in the last few weeks as possible targets, a couple could sign on the dotted line soon.

Gary Bollen signed for United a year ago and is now out of favour with the new management at Tannadice. The thirty year old left back would be cover for Stevie Hammell in the event of his departure. He has been around the SPL with spells at Livi, St Johnstone and Rangers as well as two stints with United.

Scott McDonald is a twenty year old Australian forward who has been training with the squad since mid December. He is currently a free agent and has had spells with Southampton and Wimbledon. His main claim to fame is that he captained Australia in the recent world youth championships in the UAE. Messers Burns, Craig and Clarkson could soon have competition.

It could be a busy week.
