There was a similar scoreline in the Scottish Cup in 1928/28 and, more recently, in the League Cup in 1977/78 but those few hundred 'Well fans who made the trip along the M74 saw a wee bit of history.
Although we rode our luck in the dying minutes the whole team must take credit in the achievement of another clean sheet. It was our fifth shut-out in eight league games, an excellent ratio. We know that our performance at the other end of the team has room for improvement but we have the comfort of having a solid base for the future.
Well done lads
One surprising development from what seemed like a threadbare squad in July is that we have plenty of cover in the back line. Saunders and Reynolds coped well enough with Samaras and McDonald but we still have Craigan and Hutchison in reserve.
We have games against St Mirren, Hearts and Hamilton to play before the first cycle is complete and we find ourselves comfortably in the top half of the table. Not bad for such a young team!
