Captain Scott Heads North?

He fits the profile announced by George Adams, their Director of Football, some time ago. "We would like a young guy who has come to the end of his career. A playing coach is not something we are considering. We would prefer someone who has done a good job elsewhere and is looking to better himself or a strong character who is well qualified and has come through the coaching system at the SFA. A connection with the Highlands will not be a prerequisite."

George, who has been caretaker manager for the last few weeks, will be very familiar with Scott's leadership qualities. Our former head of youth development worked with Leichy in his spell at Fir Park.

The captain joined us in 2000 after a career which included Dunfermline, Hearts and Swindon. His spell with Motherwell exceeded the league appearances which he built up at Tynecastle and he became a ‘Well favourite.

The Motherwell boy stuck by his team when the cull of the administrator hit the playing staff for six, and he accepted the consequent reduction in wages which followed. He gave great leadership to the young team which brought us so much unexpected success in the last couple of seasons.

He has spent his time on and off the treatment table by building up his coaching certificates and assisting in youth team developments.

He goes up the long road to Dingwall with the thanks of Mothewell fans for his years of service to the club. All the best Leitchy!
