Declan Gallagher has been rewarded for his excellent contribution to Motherwell's defence with a call up to the Scotland squad for the forthcoming Euro qualifiers.
The central defender has become a fixture in our central defence since his arrival from Livingstone in the summer. Included in his dozen appearances are seven clean sheets.
His dominance in the air serves at each end of the pitch and he has several assists to his credit as well as a goal in Motherwell's win at Tynecastle last month. This will be the 28 year old's first involvement with the international squad but one that many of the Fir Park faithful reckon is well deserved.
Scotland will play Russia in Moscow on Thursday before returning home for the fixture against San Marino on Sunday.
No doubt Declan had been anticipating a day or two off before starting preparations for Motherwell's next fixture against Aberdeen in a fortnight. However, international duty calls.
Congratulations Declan.
