Butcher to Extend Contract

The move looks like a good piece of business on the part of the club. The fans will applaud the offer and, while it does not guarantee that the management team remains at Fir Park for the next three years, it does ensure that we have some leverage to extract compensation if any of them are lured away.

Welcome to Fir Park

Terry joined us in the autumn of 2001 as Eric Black’s assistant after the departure of Billy Davies. He took charge of team affairs on the Black Day in April 2002 when the club entered interim administration.

This season's Open Day

Despite the ravages endured in that period of financial restraint, we emerged with a team of young, home based players and a small core of ‘old hands’ but the greatest discovery was that of a tremendous team spirit.

Not only had we rediscovered the notion of a ‘family club’ with no superstars and no egos, we had reformed the bonds between the club and its fans. We owe Terry and his team a debt for his part in that success.

In contrast to the high profile he was used to in his playing days he seems to relish the challenge of crafting a winning team without the aid of an open cheque book. Anyone who has seem his eyes light up as he enthuses about the ‘great bunch of lads’ will know the affection he holds for the job.

Let’s hope he puts pen to paper this week.
