With both Motherwell and United heading for Europe, the fans are in excellent mood and the notion of a celebration has only been increased by Motherwell slashing the prices to £5 for everyone. The club deserves a bumper crowd to repay this generosity.
On the pitch, we will be saying farewell to long-serving captain Craigan while Forbes also may get a run to say cheerio before moving on. No doubt attention will be focussed on Lasley, Jennings, Hammell and Clancy to see if their reactions hint at staying or moving on. Saunders may also be on show in preparation for his Scotland duties.
United are also about to see several players move on as Pernis, Kenneth, Dixon and Robertson all seem set on pastures new while vultures are already circling above their other talents.
With nothing to play for we can hope both managers send their teams out to attack to entertain the fans with a lot of good play and goals. Ojaama, Murphy, Humphrey, Law and Daley are all capable of entertaining while there is no shortage of skill in the United ranks either.
On one hand it would be nice to win to show our dominance in the league in terms of points but we all know that safe with two games to go is a horsing regardless. However, after such a fantastic campaign why not ask for a cherry on top – there is no reason we cannot have a thriller but also come out on top with a 3-2 victory.
Remember the last visit from United?
