The opener came just before the quarter hour. McDonald found plenty of space at the edge of the box and as he received the ball from the right wing he turned and volleyed into Samson’s right hand corner.
The game was played at a relatively slow tempo and there were few physical challenges though there was more action than in a typical pre season affair. McDonald had another chance just before the break when he elected to shoot from the angle of the six yard box rather than feed
St Johnstone brought on a couple of substitutes at the restart (a further three were to follow) but they failed to make much of an impact. McDonald scored his second on the hour and promptly made way for Clarkson. He finished well after sprinting into the right hand side of the box and shooting across the face of goal.
Looks like a 4:4:2
Corr had an untroubled ninety minutes and Keough looked the part at right back. Jim Hamilton did enough to suggest that he will be able to make a contribution in more important games. He looked to have conceded a penalty late on in the match but the ref took the kind view and awarded a free kick on the eighteen yard line.
An easy romp and no injuries. Bring on
