Our record at Pittodrie has not been covered in glory lately, in fact the record books have to be searched to reveal a 3-1 will for Motherwell in August 1997. Nevertheless the small band of supporters who make the midweek trek will be making it clear that they support everyone of the players who wear the claret and amber. Regardless of the result we have to restore some belief that our form will take a turn for the better.
The Dons may not be able to field their best eleven. Reports surfaced on Tuesday afternoon that a ‘flu big may be loose in the Pittodrie dressing room and that an appeal could be lodged with the SFL asking for as postponement. But with a playing staff in excess of thirty it is unlikely that a delay would be granted.
The home support will have to pay cash at the turnstyles as their season ticket books ate not valid for the tie. A small crowd is more than likely.
After almost a month filled with suspension and international duties we will welcome Faddy back to the ranks. There is no doubt that the presence of the nineteen year old was sorely missed. Let’s hope that the return of the red flash will stir his team mates.
We will have a full squad available and this will present Terry B with an interesting problem. Does he risk resting a few players ahead of the game against Thistle or does he play his strongest team in the hope that some winning rhythm can be found?
All will be revealed in the hour before kick off.
FPC reckons that we may sneak through on penalties – wouldn’t it be marvellous if Stevie Woods could score the winner?
