Let’s deal with the nasty part first.
At the end of the game among the usual handshakes between the dugouts, John Boyle offered a hand to Craig Brown, placed his left hand on Brown’s shoulder and made a comment in our ex-manager’s ear. Boyle then turned away and started to move up the tunnel but Brown, clearly irritated, seemed to grab hold of the chairman’s jacket. At that stage everyone in the vicinity plunged in and Brown was confronted by a police officer. Both men should regret their actions.
Fancy a wee Merlot later?
There was much in the game to please Motherwell fans.
Humphrey richly deserved his sponsor’s Man of the Match award. He demonstrated that there is far more to his game than raw pace. His goal was well struck, his crosses set up good chances and he showed a trickery that enabled him to escape the close attentions of a man marker. As a bonus he had the energy to chase back when needed.
Hutchison was a rock in defence and is fast becoming a fixture in the team. His delight following our second goal was clear to all in the Cooper Stand. He has now made 16 appearances this season and we can be thankful that he is contracted to be at Fir Park until summer 2012. No doubt he is on McCall’s list for a tempting offer of an extension.
There will be little time for the bumps and bruises to heal before we face Dundee United on Wednesday for the sixth time this season. A win would guarantee a top six finish and if the players can show the same appetite as has been on show in the last couple of outings then we might be able to celebrate!
