One of Motherwell's weaknesses in recent times has been the tendency to concede a crucial goal to a breakaway.  This time it was the 150 'Well fans who were able to enjoy the unfolding spectacle as Anier and Ainsworth raced to the far end to snatch the match.

Shaughnessy launched a throw-in yards from the corner flag in front of the away support.  Hammell's clearing header was followed by a mix up between Flood and Jack and the ball was loose.  Anier sprinted 20 yards to collect before crossing the halfway line with only Hayes able to guard against the break.  Ainsworth crossed the line inside the centre circle to offer another threat to the lone defender.  Hayes was drawn to  Anier as the trio crossed the 18 yard line and the pass found the winger at the penalty spot.  A controlled right footed delivery gave Langfield no chance and the game was won.

Ten seconds had elapsed between the start of Anier's chase and Aisworth's goal.  All 12,500 fans could see the play unfolding.  The vast majority were hoping for the attackers to mess up while the small travelling band were on their feet urging Anier to supply his team-mate with and easy tap in.  We were in the air as the ball hit the net, arms aloft, cheers ringing out.  A look at the watch posed the question - could we hold out for 40 long minutes?

The defence was well tested but we kept them out.  Dan Twardzik was singled out for prise by the manager after the match.  He now has three win bonuses after three appearances and in 270 minutes he has conceded only once.  His slight statures betrays his ability.  He launches a fist at any cross within range, holds shots and seems able to deliver accurate kicks with either foot.  His spell with us should ensure his career develops from second string at Dundee.

We're off to Maryhill on Sunday for the first visit since they beat us 1-0 in December 2003Can we make it four wins in a row?
