Stuart Kerr knows the Bellshill born keeper and has given him a chance to develop his career at Lanarkshire’s premier club. Hollis has been a one club man so far, playing occasional games for the Diamonds though he did rack up 24 outings last season. He’ll be keen to get a chance with an SPL team.
Craig Brown has let it be known that Michael Fraser is considering “some offers from abroad” and that we won’t stand in his way should he be tempted to move from Fir Park. His spell with Motherwell has hardly enhanced his CV and it would probably suit both parties if he were to leave.
John Ruddy’s loan spell is now over and he is now back on the staff at Everton. The Goodison team have an embarrassment of goalkeeping talent and it could be argued that Ruddy is fourth in line for the number one shirt. It is hard to see any sensible reason for him to spend a season without regular games and the likelihood must be that he is sold or has another year on loan. There no doubt that we would welcome him with open arms but even with Brown twisting Moyes’ arm the chance of his return is not expected.
The search for a new first choice goalie will take off in earnest once Fraser makes up his mind. The management team may already have a short list of candidates. We may not be able to offer pots of cash to encourage a signing but the pull of working with Brown and Knox together with a Europa League adventure might be a decisive factor.
