A reflection on events at Pittodrie

Filth, Gossip and Lies... Yes, you know where you read it first, sportsfans. What a great day up at Pittodrie for the cup game in January! Those Dons fans don't sing much, do they? Quite a few Celebrities spotted in the packed Well end (well almost...) - like Des and Eric out of the Verve and Peter Starch was spied in among the thronging 'Well contingent, taunting the Aberdeen chaps with "Sheep ****ing b******s etc. etc. and what about that super goal by "Kid" Kirk - did he go mental after scoring it, or what, poppickers? And our pal Colin O'Neil - can he Tum'le the monkees, or can he no'. Brilliant.

Fanzine time, and the St Mirren effort, "There's a store where the Creatures Meet", have a go at Cooper and O'Neil for some alleged naughty goings on at Love-less street recently. Is this true, or what. I think we should be told. One of the Hearts 'Zines also had a go at certain fanzines (ie: us) who feature music related articles instead of having a daft wee review section of other fanzines Well chums, EVERY music thing you have read in this mag has some relation to MFC - dig out yer back copies, and check it out. Things like the River Detectives feature, Stove Earls & Iggy Pop all mention the men in claret & Amber, so there. And mother thin, Did you know that the excellent Dunfermline Fanzine "Walking down the Halbeath Road" had folded? Well it has, and again I believe we are seeing the start of the demise of Fanzine Culture. Many more will follow over the next year, mark my words.

Radio Clyde. As the great Vic Reeves (A Middlesboro' fan by the way) would say : Very Poor. Believe it or not, on Scottish Cup day, Jan 26th, where were the brilliant boys from Clyde broadcasting live iron? was it the top tie in the country which featured a club from the Clyde transmission area ie : Aberdeen v Motherwell? Or another cracker at Broomfield tor Airdrie v Hearts? No. Incredibly, it was none of these It was, in fact, Forfar v Celtic. What a disgrace. The Clyde OB van MUST really get towed behind the Old Firm team basses every week. How BORING tor McPherson etc. to watch the bigots teams every week. Write in your letters of complaint now, well fans B4 its too late. The bigots are taking over. Talking of which, full marks to the Accies 'Zine, "Crying Tine Again" who did an excellent feature in a recent edition on Bigotry in the game, and even gave GLF a namecheck for giving then the inspiration in our article on the Mould Firm which appeared in GLF2 last year. Hats off to Radio Scotland , who covered the 'Well game at Pittodrie in the Cup. Its nice to know that someone kept things in perspective.

Have you been reading the Punter? Check out Barnstaple's column -on the 'Well. Good to see someone with a balanced view getting into print. Does anyone know what the circulation figures are tor "The Punter"? Just Curious, as it's quite a good read.

Well, thats about all - who knows what will happen in the Cup? Have, as Captain Tommy Boyd the clairvoyant would have us believe, Motherwell "Got their name on the Cup?" it's anybody's guess. I hope he's right, but with a lot of the big guns still in, I doubt it, although a day out at Hampden tor the Semis would be a brilliant day out tor us long-suffering 'Well fans. With our current squad, we could at least have a good go. Did you hear Radio Celtic (again) have a good go at Boyd during the recent friendly v Russia at Iboax? what a scandal. After a good start, McPherson and Johnston really got layed- into Boydy whenever he made a mistake. As expected, McCoist got all the praise and referred to on first-name terms etc. etc. They wouldn't let it lie. That's all, space cadets - see ye next time.
